Toyota Ipsum

It was a passenger minivan that Toyota manufactured.
During the minivan boom including the first generation of Honda Odyssey, the first generation model of Ipsum received orders that exceeded the target number of sales substantially. Domestic as well as overseas competitors sold similar models.
Despite the full model change of the second generation that attempted size increase and improvement of the product level, the second generation did not become as popular as the first generation, and it was sold for a long period of time.
However, it was discontinued after 13 years due to the end of production in December 2009.
The name Ipsum means "Original" and "One's own" in Latin, and as the name suggests, the car focuses on practicalities such as the spaciousness and the ease of use as a car, rather than luxurious equipments and additional functions.
The first generation was exported as "Picnic" to Europe, and the second generation was sold as "Avensis Verso."
The second generation was sold as "Picnic" in Hong Kong and Singapore. It was sold as "Avensis" in Australia, but it was referred to as "Avensis Verso" on the badge in lower right of the rear hatchback and in the owners manual, same as the Europe specification.
