Mitsubishi Rosa Bus Overview

Rosa is a microbus manufactured by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation.

Rosa has thoroughly examined the driving environment of small buses from various perspectives, from the driver, passengers, and even pedestrians, and has pursued the required performance without compromise. Small buses are closely related to people’s daily lives, whether as courtesy buses, school buses, community buses, or rental cars. Now, equipped with the necessary high level of safety, sophisticated comfort, and excellent driving performance, Rosa is now driving smartly.

Popular Keywords and specifications for Mitsubishi Rosa bus

The Mitsubishi Fuso Light Bus was replaced by the Mitsubishi Light Rosa, and until the introduction of the second generation, the lineup consisted of two Mitsubishi-branded Rosa and Light Rosa.

4x4 drive models have been on the lineup for the longest time as Japan’s bus-only vehicles, and are often used as site personnel carriers by the Air Self-Defense Force, where 4x4 is required.

The CX has an auxiliary seat next to the passenger seat and an additional row of passenger seats, increasing the capacity by 5 persons to 34 passengers (34 seater), the largest in its class, and making it suitable for transportation to and from hotels and inns, corporate employees, weddings and funerals, and the service industry.

Engine & models

Mitsubishi Rosa BE434F (BE437F BE438F)

The BE4 series is the model of the third generation of Rosa bus, from 1986 to 1997. The Rosa bus was completely redesigned in June 1986 for the first time in 13 years, this sleek line echoed the design of the MS7 Series Aero bus that debuted earlier.

The enlarged front windshield, lower left safety window, instrument panel design, and control layout incorporate ergonomics for a much improved driving environment.

Mitsubishi Rosa BE64DG (BE63CE BE63DE)

The BE6 series is the model of the fourth generation of Rosa, from 1997 to now.

Unusually for a bus, all buses have four differently shaped round headlamps and taillamps, giving them a rounded appearance. The engines are the 4M50T (175 PS), the first DOHC 16-valve direct injection engine in its class with a turbo, the 4M51 (150PS), also without supercharging, and the 4D36 (110PS), an OHV vortex chamber engine.

4M50 engine

Mitsubishi mainly has two types of 4M series engines. The 4M4 engine is a newly developed diesel engine to update the 4D5 engine.

The 4M50 engine complies with the 2003 (new short-term) emission regulations by using DOHC 16 valves, a common-rail direct injection system, and a continuously regenerated DPF. This engine was installed in the Canter and Rosa. The 4M50 with a displacement of 4,899 cc was followed later by the 5,249 cc 4M51.

4D33 engine

The 4D3 series engines were OHV small diesel engines developed as the successor to the 4DR series diesel engines and for passenger cars, starting with the 3,298 cc 90 PS 4D30 model installed in the Canter in 1978, followed by the direct injection turbo diesel engine 4D31 (3,298 cc 100PS), and the 4D32 (3,298 cc 100PS). In 1985, the 3,567 cc 110 PS 4D32 was introduced.

The 4D33 (4,214 cc), 4D34 (3,907 cc), 4D35 (4,561 cc), and 4D36 (3,567 cc/ improved version of the 4D32) followed, expanding the lineup and remaining the main engine in Mitsubishi light- and medium-duty trucks. The 4D34T4 was also used in the JASO standard for diesel engine lubricating oil dynamic valve system wear tests (JASO M354:1999). In the early 2000s, an LPG engine based on the 4D34 was converted to the lineup. The company is a member of the National Association of the United States.

Rivals of Mitsubishi Rosa bus

As Coaster is also designed as a microbus, Mitsubishi Rosa and Toyota Coaster are often compared.

Since both two cars have many similarities, it is very difficult to define which one is better.
However, focusing on the price, it is very clear that Rosa is recommendable. It depends on the chassis, but Rosa is offered from around $4,900 while Toyota coaster is offered from around $35,000.

In addition, microbusses are generally equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, but the DUONIC, a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission with dual clutches, has been installed to reduce the burden of driving.
