Type of the truck

Generally, trucks meant for hauling cargo are classified by load capacity into small, medium and large. Others include trucks trailers with special shapes and specifications.

Small Trucks

Small Truck

In general, trucks that are 2 tons and lower are classified as small trucks. The normal shape is as follows.

Flat Body

A generic truck with a flat loading platform.

Van body

A truck with an aluminum box-type loading platform. This allows for more protection from rain and wind that a flat-body. Currently this is the most common type of truck.

Reefer truck

To improve ease of loading and unloading of cargo, this "van body" opens on both sides. It looks like a bird when both sides are open.

Refrigerated truck (Freezer truck)

Equipped with refrigeration, this truck can act as a refrigerator or freezer. It is suitable for transporting frozen or fresh items.

Medium Trucks

Medium Truck

Trucks in the 4-ton range are generally called medium trucks. There is a large difference in the load capacity of these trucks depending on the shape and equipment. The most common configuration is as follows.

Flat Body

This is the generic, flatbed truck. The bed is light, so you can generally ensure a load capacity of 4 tons or more. There is no roof, so loading and unloading are easy. (Those without attached cranes.)

Van body

This truck has an aluminum box-type cargo hold. This protects the cargo from the elements. However, due to the weight of the body the maximum load comes out toless than 4 tons.

Wing body

Protected from the exterior climate, this is an insulated truck. The contents can be transported at a low temperature.

Refrigerated truck (Freezer truck)

Equipped with a refrigeration unit, the cargo hold is like a refrigerator or freezer. This is used for transporting fresh or frozen goods.

Wing body with canvas top

This truck has a loading platform covered by a hood. This is lighter than the average wing car and has the benefit of being able to carry more cargo.

Large Truck

Trucks in the 10-ton range are generally called medium trucks. There is a large difference in the load capacity of these trucks depending on the shape and equipment. The most common configuration is as follows.

Flat Body

A generic truck with a flat loading platform. It can load 11 to 15 tons.

Van body

A truck with an aluminum box-type loading platform. This allows for more protection from rain and wind that a flat-body.

Wing body

To improve ease of loading and unloading of cargo, this "van body" opens on both sides. It looks like a bird when both sides are open.

Dump truck (Tow truck)

The front of this truck can be lifted, so soil and gravel can be easily dumped.

Tanker

This truck transports oil or other liquids. To avoid the instability of carrying liquids, the hold is oval shaped to maintain a low center of gravity.

Tanker for liquid

This truck is for carrying liquid sugar. The stainless body is reflective like a mirror. Not just the exterior, the cabin and tank are also well taken care of.

Bulk body

This truck is for transporting granular material like flour, fertilizer, or sugar. When unloading, the material is poured out of an air-powered hose.

Truck for hydrogen

This truck is for transporting compressed hydrogen. Hydrogen is the lightest gas on earth, so even when full the weight is approximately 200kg.

Mixer truck

This truck is for transporting concrete. The cargo hold rotates to prevent the concrete from hardening. A special feature is the shortness of one rotation.

Garbage body

This is for garbage pick-up. It has a compression system so that as much garbage can be collected as possible.

Horse trailer

This is for transporting horses. For the comfort of the horses, this offers air suspension and an air-conditioned cargo area.

Double cab

This truck has increased space for passengers. There's a row of seats behind the driver's seat. It can carry more people to the delivery site. Many workers can ride along.

Container for railline

This truck is designed to carry containers that are used on freight trains.

Sprinkler

This truck is designed to shoot water onto the road for cleaning.

Dump loader

This truck transports heavy equipment such as excavators and bulldozers. It tilts up and down to allow for loading and unloading of equipment.

Truck for transporting cash

This truck carries mostly cash. The cargo area is a safe, and comes with a door that can't be easily opened. It also has a number of theft prevention functions.

Limbo Van

The height of the truck bed can be adjusted on this van-style truck.

Super heavy truck

This truck transports extremely heavy objects like bridge girders. To help support the weight, it is equipped with many tires.

Trailer Body Trucks

Bulk Truck

This trailer can carry large objects that are normally not transportable by a truck, and is also used for transporting lots of cargo at one time. In general it is all referred to as a trailer, but to be exact, the part on the back that holds cargo is the trailer. Also, the part that pulls the trailer is called the tractor or the head. One tractor is capable of pulling multiple trailers of different shapes, so it's possible to efficiently move cargo.

Semi trailer

The most common is the semi trailer. Combined with the tractor, the general length is less than 16.5 meters.

Full trailer

To help carry more cargo, this trailer is attached to a motorcycle. A full trailer tractor can be used as a normal truck. Including the tractor, the general length is less than 18 meters.

Car transporter

This trailer is for transporting automobiles.

Tank trailer

This trailer transports fuel and other liquids.

Bulk trailer

This trailer transports grains.

Container trailer

This trailer mainly carries marine containers.

Stanchion trailer

This trailer carries things like wood and steel. Stanchions are erected to help prevent damage during transport.

Heavy trailer

This trailer is for transporting unusually heavy items. Depending on the purpose, trailers have different numbers of axels and tires.

Full-trailer for the grounds

This trailer is mainly used in places like factories, and with a turn of the handle one can turn the trailer tires as well.

Heavy machine transporter

This trailer transports heavy equipment like excavators and bulldozers.

Pole trailer

A trailer for carrying long objects. Depending on the cargo, the poles can be extended or retracted.

Carrier movement trailer

This has a maximum load capacity of 60 tons, with a cargo section that can extend 3.5 meters. This will transport large machinery destined for overseas to the port.
