Japanese Truck History

The first japanese trucks

Truck production in Japan began in 1913 and had its roots in the Tokyo Gas Electric Co., Ltd. Currently, Tokyo Gas Electric Co., Ltd. has made automobiles continuously under the familiar name "Isuzu Motors Limited" for 100 years.

Sep. 1954 Toyota Toyoace The first generation of the "Toyoace" was originally called a "Light Truck" when it debuted, but two years later in 1957 it was nicknamed the "Toyoace."
May. 1956 Toyota Dyna The "Toyopet Route Truck RK52" is announced as a 1 to 1.5 ton pickup truck powered by an R-type gasoline engine, using a Toyopet Truck RK23-style (later the Scout) chassis, and a semi cab-over style that allowed for a long loading platform length. <br> The "Dyna" has its roots here.
Aug. 1959 Isuzu Elf First-generation model release. Originally released with only a gasoline engine, this was powered by a 1500cc engine known as the GL150. It came with suitable options and accessories such as a radio and an internal heater.
1963 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter The first generation of the "Toyoace" was originally called a "Light Truck" when it debuted, but two years later in 1957 it was nicknamed the "Toyoace."
1964 Hino Ranger Release of the KM300-style. At time of release, a 3.5 ton truck.
1970 Isuzu Forward Release of TR-type. Powered by D500-type 125ps. Continued use of TY-type from previous generation, with semi-cab over type. Two types available with full cab or Scab (short cab).
Aug. 1971 Mazda Titan Release of 1st generation successor of the E-series. The engine is a VA-type 4-cylinder 1985cc(92ps) gasoline engine, or an XA-series 4 cylinder 2522cc(77ps) diesel engine. The two are distinguished by different body colors, with gasoline engines colored Apollo Yellow and diesel engines in Olympia Blue.
1975 Nissan Condor First-generation model release. The engine is an ED6-type (Swirl chamber) and FD6T (direct injection type?with turbo). The model with a turbo engine is called the "Condor GF" and came equipped with power steering and air-conditioning. At the same time, the RM90 was release, which shared part of the power train and undercarriage.
Aug. 1978 Hino Dutro Daihatsu Delta Truck released as OEM. The front grill design resembles that of the KL Ranger. The engine is a Toyota B-Type. As opposed to the Dyna and Delta, it isn't set with a single-box-type root van.
Jul. 1983 Mitusbishi Fuso The Great First-generation model release. The appearance resembles a small-form Canter and a large-form "The Great" and unifies the image of the "fuso truck." The headlights, left/right doors, head section panel, and cab rear window are the same as those of "The Great."
Feb. 1984 Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter First-generation model release. This model became the basis for the design concept of the Fighter and the Canter, which would be released later. Uses two atypical rectangular headlights. Equipped with one-key engine operation and steering lock, but did away with battery relay.
Nov. 1994 Isuzu Giga Release of successor to the 810 series. Motorcycle-style KC-C##-type, with the KC-EX#-type tractor released the following year. This model was the first release of the GVW 22 ton and 25 ton. The two types available are the highway cab for cargo use and the off-road cab for dumping.
