2nd Generation Toyota Dyna Truck
The 2nd TOYOACE went on sale on March of 1959. The semi-cab over style was intact, and the engine was moved back and placed beneath the seat. It also introduced the column shift, which increased the max capacity from 2 to 3. The body became bigger and the front window was now 1 sheet instead of multiple sheets. The standard body color was changed to a more light color. A denser color of the same shade was used for the part underneath the cab to add a 2-tone color. A tilt-cab was used to make it easier to access the engine for maintenance. The original engine was 33PS/L S type, but from October of 1959, it was switched to a 45PS/L P type. Afterwards, the 1.2-liter 1.25t model and the 1.5-liter 1.5t model was added to the lineup. The production of this long-seller model continued until 1971.

The 2nd TOYOACE goes on sale. Although the basic chassis structure of the semi-cab over model was passed down, the engine was moved back and placed underneath the seat. This combined with the column shift made it possible to fit 3 passengers on the bench seat. This was mainly because many other models from competitors now offered a max capacity of 3. The cab design was simplified and flattened to increase productivity. Body size increased and the front windshield now became 1 piece. The ventilator was moved from the cowl side to the front and the opening increased in size as well. Furthermore, with the new large press machine, the production process became much more simple and the accuracy/quality of the production increased as well. A light powder color was used for the body. A darker color of the same shade was used under the cab for the 2-tone look. The sliding engine was removed in accordance with the new engine placement. Now, you could access the engine from the service hole located under the cab (under the seat). Furthermore, a tilting cab was introduced. The same tilting cab was first introduced to Japan in the first DYNA, a higher-class cab-over model that went on sale a bit after the debut of the first TOYOACE. A tilt cab in a truck of this class was unheard of.
Initially, it was the “SK20” model with a 33PS S-type engine. Then the OHV P-type engine (1959 model 997cc 45PS/5,000rpm), developed for the 2nd CORONA, was introduced to the PK20 model, which put a stop to the S model engines. The production of the old and seemingly useless S-type engine almost stopped completely, until it started to be used for a forklift engine. The design of the grill and the front marker lamp changed every time a minor adjustment was made. At the end, there were 4 round headlamps.
This 2nd generation series saw a wide range of spin-offs in terms of models. Aside from the P-type 1.2-liter 1t & 1.25t, the R-type 1.5-liter 1.5t model was introduced in 1963. Both its exterior and interior were updated many times and the production of this best seller continued until 1971.
